A home to retire in.
The Client Brief: The project involves designing a home with a strong emphasis on accessibility, functionality, and aesthetic appeal, tailored to the unique needs and preferences of the homeowner. Thinking far ahead, the client requires the space to be wheelchair friendly, ensuring ease of movement throughout the house, which is especially important as it will serve as their final house.
The Serenade @ Holland
The client is a plant lover and a hobbyist with interests in sewing and painting, which calls for the inclusion of dedicated spaces that cater to these activities. Storage solutions are also a priority to maintain a tidy and organized environment, allowing the homeowner to enjoy their hobbies without clutter.
Custom built in TV cabinet for extra storage and enhanced aesthetic
TV cabinet comes with a sliding door design that the client can choose to hide the TV away from sight when needed.
A significant aspect of the design is ensuring that the property's favorable orientation is maximized. The design should avoid blocking views or air flow, which contributes to a bright and airy atmosphere.
The client prefers a simple, easy-to-maintain interior that avoids a "cookie-cutter" appearance, while still embracing art and color. The space should be visually appealing without being overwhelming or difficult to upkeep.
The project also includes the conversion of an existing toilet into a dry pantry and bar area, providing a dedicated space for the client's husband to enjoy wine and coffee.
Additionally, the current kitchen and foyer area, which suffer from a lack of natural light, will be reimagined to create a brighter, more inviting atmosphere.
The design will involve reconstructing the foyer layout using fluted panels that allow for ventilation and light, while the kitchen and foyer walls will be replaced with clear glass to increase brightness without creating an open kitchen.
